NFL Insider Believes AFC Team Could Pursue Bill Belichick Next Year

After 24 years of being at the helm of the New England Patriots and guiding them to six Super Bowl championships, Bill Belichick isn’t coaching an NFL team this season.

He seems content to make his rounds on different media outlets this year, but many believe he will ultimately return to the sidelines next fall.

On “The Dan Patrick Show,” NFL insider Albert Breer talked about how the Jacksonville Jaguars have good but not great players, and he feels there is a chance Belichick will end up coaching them next year.

Breer mentioned how the son of owner Shahid Khan has a relationship with Belichick and how the legendary coach has been giving advice to the team’s ownership for several years.

The Jaguars looked like the league’s next powerhouse when they ended the 2022 regular season with a five-game winning streak and overcame a 27-0 deficit in the wild-card playoff round to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers.

But last season, they failed to build on that success and went just 9-8, which wasn’t good enough to get them back into the playoffs.

One has to wonder if Belichick, who is 72 years of age, would only take a coaching job with a team that has the talent to contend right away for a Super Bowl championship.

Jacksonville has quarterback Trevor Lawrence, whom people have had high hopes for and recently got a five-year, $275 million extension, but he has been subpar to start the season.

They don’t seem to have a true alpha wide receiver, and they just got destroyed 47-10 by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday when they were only able to muster 239 total yards of offense and 147 passing yards.
