After going through an NFL offseason of some drastic changes, namely firing longtime head coach Bill Belichick after 24 seasons with the team and trading quarterback Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the consensus has been that the New England Patriots will struggle during the 2024 campaign.

Surprisingly enough, the Patriots got off to a solid start to the season on the road, as they were able to take down Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1 at Paycor Stadium, which became arguably the biggest upset in the league to start the 2024 NFL season.

Unfortunately for New England, that success in Week 1 hasn’t carried over to the last two weeks, with the Patriots losing a close game to the Seattle Seahawks in their home opener at Gillette Stadium and then getting crushed by Aaron Rodgers and the division-rival New York Jets in Week 3.

With the Patriots finding it challenging to do anything offensively against the stout defense of the Jets in Week 3, New England has decided to make a move ahead of Week 4, which could impact the squad moving forward, as they have signed wide receiver John Jiles to the practice squad, according to the team’s X account.

As they start this rebuilding process, one of the main concerns for the Patriots has been the wide receiver position, which they tried to address before the season in their attempts to trade for San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk.

Obviously, the team was unable to get that deal done and has done much to upgrade the position, resulting in the team not having much of a passing game over the last three weeks.
