Andy Reid Had Honest Admission About Rashee Rice’s Injury

The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs made a point during the NFL offseason to do everything within their power to upgrade the wide receiver position, which was a weakness for the team last season.

As a result of the wide receiver sorely lacking, the Chiefs made some significant moves during the offseason by adding veteran wideout Marquise Brown and drafting speedster Xavier Worthy with their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

These two key additions and hoping that Rashee Rice can take his game to another level seemed like enough to get this team back on track at the wide receiver position.

However, injuries have already started to take a toll on the defending champions, with Brown put on the injured reserve due to shoulder surgery and now Rice looking like he may have suffered a severe injury in the matchup against the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on Sunday.

After causing a fumble on an interception return by knocking the football out of the hands of the player that intercepted Patrick Mahomes’ pass, Rice went down with what appears to be a costly injury, as he was taken off the field on a cart.

Head coach Andy Reid was asked about the injury and gave an update that suggests Rice will end up missing some time via Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.

“No, but it is not good,” Reid said.

If the Chiefs have lost Rice for an extended period of time or perhaps the rest of the season, Kansas City will have to pivot again, as they have now lost two of their best wide receivers to injuries in the first four weeks of the season.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Chiefs will do, as they have already brought back veteran wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster after losing Brown to shoulder surgery.
