BALTIMORE — Kansas City left-hander Cole Ruggans was sidelined through six innings of Tuesday's first game of the American League wild-card series against the Orioles with left calf cramps.

Ragans made his postseason debut, allowing four hits in six scoreless innings and striking out eight with no batters on base.

In the seventh inning, left-hander Sam Long took over, leading 1-0.

The 26-year-old Ragans went 11-9 in the regular season with a 3.14 ERA in 32 starts. He was selected to the All-Star Game for the first time.
