One of the biggest injuries in the NFL that has taken place is the knee injury of Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Rashee Rice.

Rice was accidentally hit low by quarterback Patrick Mahomes on a Chargers interception return last week.

Insider Dianna Russini recently shared the next step in the process for Rice and the Chiefs as they look to figure out the extent of the injury.

“He’s been placed on IR. There is hope, though, that he could possibly return…They’re going to test this knee out next week…Eventually, they’re going to sedate him…They’re going to put him under to just arthroscopically take a closer look at that knee…Maybe he can get back in six weeks,” Russini said Friday on Scoop City.

If Rice could return in any fashion this season, it would be a big lift for this Chiefs team.

By most accounts, he is their best wide receiver.

The 24-year-old put up 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdown catches as a rookie last year.

This season, he was on pace for close to 100 receptions, over 1,000 yards, and at least eight touchdowns.

Until he returns, the Chiefs are going to have to find some production from somewhere else.

Legendary tight end Travis Kelce hasn’t exactly gotten going, and every team should now know what speedy rookie receiver Xavier Worth can do.

Plus, veteran receiver “Hollywood” Brown is out for the remainder of the regular season due to injury, as well.

Head coach Andy Reid is going to have to be even more creative, but the good news for the Chiefs right now is that they are still 4-0.
