SRINAGAR: The Government of India has zero tolerance toward militancy and will eradicate it from Jammu and Kashmir very soon, the Minister of State for Home Affairs said on Wednesday.

Replying to a question from Congress MP Pramod Tiwari, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, said that there are only two places for militants: either hell or jail.

He mentioned that 900 militants have been killed in JK since the abrogation of Article 370, with 28 killed in recent days. The number of soldiers killed during this period is notably low, which he described as condemnable.

The minister noted that from 2004 to 2014, JK witnessed 7,217 terror-related incidents, compared to 2,259 from 2014 to 2024. “2,829 security forces and civilians were killed in J&K from 2004 to 2014, while 941 were killed from 2014 to 2024.”

He added that the number of incidents has decreased by 67 per cent since 2014, with a 69 per cent reduction in terror incidents and an 80 per cent reduction in the killing of civilians and security forces.

The minister highlighted that JK has experienced a new dawn of development, with job creation, new schools, and improved facilities.

He also stated that people are now living peacefully, and the safety of visitors has led to a significant influx of tourists to J&K last year—(KNO)
