Heading into the 2023 NFL season, quarterback Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers had to prove that his rookie season was no fluke and that he is the right man for the job of leader under center for this storied franchise moving forward.

Although that was an incredibly tall task for Purdy, he actually exceeded expectations in his second season with the 49ers, becoming Baltimore Ravens superstar Lamar Jackson’s stiffest competition for the NFL MVP award.

Although Purdy fell short of beating out Jackson for the regular-season MVP, he led the 49ers to a 12-5 record, the NFC West division title and the top seed in the conference heading into the NFL playoffs.

Purdy’s success didn’t stop there, as he led the team to a win over the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions in order to reach the Super Bowl and face Patrick Mahomes and the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Despite not being able to win the big game, Purdy has proven his worth to the team and the league, and as a result, he will have some high expectations coming into the 2024 campaign.

Unfortunately for Purdy, things didn’t look good today in training camp, as he threw three interceptions in the team’s first padded practice, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Even though this isn’t a great look to start training camp, Purdy is going up against a stout defense every single day, which can be tough to get the best of, especially with star linebacker Fred Warner watching his every move.

With many people seemingly waiting for Purdy to fail, he’ll be under the microscope from here on out, and bad days like this will stick out more than they probably should.
