Be Fully Prepared To Meet All Contingencies: Northern Army Commander

SRINAGAR: Army’s Northern Commander, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, visited Rajouri and Poonch districts on Wednesday to review operational preparedness and the counter-insurgency grid in the region.

The twin districts are already on high alert due to the G20 Summit in Srinagar and recent militant incidents.

According to an official statement from the Defence spokesman, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi visited the Line of Control in Poonch district and Romeo Force in Rajouri.

“The Northern Commander visited two units along the Line of Control in Poonch,” the statement said.

It also mentioned his visit to the Rashtriya Rifles in the Rajouri sector.

Romeo Force of Rashtriya Rifles is responsible for hinterland security in Rajouri, Poonch, and Reasi districts, as well as the Anti Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS).

During the visit, the Army Commander received a briefing on the Counter Infiltration grid and the processes being adopted.

“He appreciated the measures taken and commended the troops for maintaining the highest standards of professionalism,” the statement said. It further added that the Army Commander urged them to remain fully prepared to handle any contingencies. (KNO)
