The Denver Broncos will be hoping for a better year during the 2024 NFL season after a rough outing in 2023.
Head coach Sean Payton took over the Broncos and was hoping to get them back to the playoffs, but he and his staff struggled with an imbalanced roster and poor offensive showings.
However, this year profiles to be different after Denver made several changes to the roster to better fit Payton’s vision for how he wants to play on both sides of the ball.
While Payton should be able to implement his system more smoothly, he and the staff will also need to figure out a way to find an edge on special teams, thanks to the league’s new kickoff rules.
Though Payton is a fan of the new rules, he reportedly believes there could be some adjustments made before the start of the regular season.
“Interesting from Sean Payton. He thinks there might be another tweak or two to the kickoff before the start of the regular season,” journalist James Palmer wrote on X. “He doesn’t like the three different spots the ball can be spotted. He’s in favor of the new rule and likes it overall. But [he] does have some thoughts on how it could be slightly adjusted.”

The new kickoff rules were implemented to fix the lack of returns as well as prevent more player injuries.
Though the intent behind the new rules is sound on paper, Payton might have a point, as there could be some slight improvements made after watching it in action this preseason.
