Nine Injured in South Kashmir Road Accident

SRINAGAR: At least nine passengers were injured after two vehicles collided along the highway in Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.

They said that a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK21C 8406 and a Sumo bearing registration number JK16 0948 collided at the Air Strip along the highway in Bijbehara this morning.

“In the incident, nine persons suffered injuries. The injured were identified as Rumaisa, wife of Ishtiaq Ahmad Sheikh of Sonamarg; Abdul Qayoom Bairan, son of Nazir Ahmed of Kangan; Azra, daughter of Irshad Ahmad Sheikh of Kangan; Ishrat, daughter of Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh of Kangan; Salreen, wife of Nisar Ahmad Khan of Kangan; Ahkam, son of Nisar Ahmad Khan of Kangan; Arhan, son of Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khan of Kangan; Imad, son of Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khan of Kangan; and Usman, son of Nisar Ahmad Khan of Kangan,” they added.

“All the injured were evacuated to SDH Bijbehara, from where they were taken to GMC Anantnag for further treatment,” the official said.

Confirming the incident, a police official said that they have taken cognisance of the matter for further investigation. (GNS)
