With the MLB trade deadline approaching, roster construction no longer takes the guesswork. What you see is what you get, good or bad. In the case of the Chicago White Sox, it's much worse.

The Pale Plumbers have lost a franchise-record 19 straight games, and things may not be getting better anytime soon. To make matters worse, White Sox general manager Chris Gaetz has come under fire for receiving meager returns on the trades he made.

Not all criticism is justified (pitching is one of the most talked about parts of the 2024 White Sox) No It's embarrassing, but they were criticized for not finding a pitcher), but it's clear they're basically a Triple-A team in MLB clothing.

Elsewhere, San Diego significantly strengthened its bullpen, while Seattle made a much-needed upgrade to its hitting. The Orioles didn't sell the farm in order to compete for a championship, but they made some smart moves to try to improve on last year's postseason upset. The Phillies also moved up, while Atlanta seemed to be reluctantly surrendering.

Based on the actions taken, here's what's worth on the board after the deadline:

Baltimore Orioles win AL East, +125

With the Yankees and Orioles tied for first place, money expected New York to win in the final two months. It seems like the public is following what they know rather than being based on anything substantive. The Orioles were the stronger team last year and have been the stronger team all season.

New York has a slightly easier schedule in terms of winning percentage, but Baltimore has yet to face Detroit and now has six games against the Tigers after weakening themselves for the future. The Orioles now also have September and October experience under their belts, and they still have memories of last year's division title win. They could easily lose to the Yankees, but they shouldn't be the losers here.

New York Mets advance to playoffs, +105

Arizona doesn't look like it's going to stick. The Diamondbacks currently hold the final playoff spot, but they have yet to face Milwaukee and have seven games remaining against Los Angeles and San Diego. Cleveland, Philadelphia and rising Boston are also on the D-Backs' schedule, a tricky ask for the defending NFC champions.

Someone will take their place, and the Mets look to be one of the most likely contenders. New York hasn't really made any big moves at the deadline, but they've been playing well and have a relatively easy schedule going forward. One concern for the Mets is that they have seven games left against the Phillies, but Philly didn't play well. Since the All-Star break. Getting extra money with the Mets makes sense.

NFC East wins pennant, +110

When it comes to futures betting, getting half the share is always a good thing. The Phillies and Braves have their issues, but both are serious playoff threats. If the Mets also join, three of the division's six teams will win the NLCS. Any one of them will honor your bet.

This bet is far from a sure thing, as the Dodgers remain a potent threat and the Padres are significantly better. But Philly has been the National League's best team from top to bottom and swept the Dodgers before halftime. If the Phillies shake off this funk, this bet could be incredibly valuable.
