New York Yankees prospect Jasson Dominguez had a phenomenal 2022 campaign in the minor leaguers.
He hit .273/.375/.461 with 16 home runs and 37 stolen bases (plus a solid .836 OPS) across three levels in 2022, adjusting every time he went up except for his latest stop, Double-A.
That’s why the Yankees had him opening the 2023 campaign there, with the Somerset Patriots in Double-A.
The start of the journey was a bit rocky, just like it happened last year in Low-A and High-A.
However, he is starting to turn things around because he is really, really good at baseball.

His batting average is increasing like foam, and his plate discipline numbers are excellent.
He started Wednesday with a .208/.389/.417 line, five home runs, and 13 stolen bases.
Considering he was hitting .125 just several days ago, you can say he is starting to adjust to facing upper-minors pitching.
Prospects usually take some time to adjust to a new environment: new and more difficult pitchers, new teammates, and a new place.
However, their ability to make adjustments on the go will determine how far they will go in baseball.
“The Martian”, as he is called, has shown that ability over the course of his minor league career.
That, and his obvious physical gifts, will probably give him a nice future as a major leaguer.
He has contact, he has power, he can work walks (his 22.2 percent walk rate is admirable), and he has speed to burn.
Since he can also play center field adequately, that’s probably where his future with the Yankees lies.
