Patrick Beverley is not in the NBA anymore, but it was a personal decision.

He got plenty of money to play overseas, and he chose that over staying in the league, which is something not many guys would’ve done in his position.

Beverley has been a professional basketball player for many years in the NBA.

Needless to say, he got to learn a lot from countless teammates and coaches through all his stops.

Talking to Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller for their The OGs show, he revealed that of all the many coaches he had, Mike D’Antoni is the one he learned the most from.

He stated that even though he wasn’t much of an offensive force, D’Antoni still allowed him to start at shooting guard alongside a superstar like James Harden.

There, with the Houston Rockets, he learned how to execute the pick and roll.

More than that, he claimed that D’Antoni gave him the confidence and the freedom to showcase his offense and take shots, which helped him stop hesitating whether they were good or bad shots.

Of course, Beverley was mostly there for defensive purposes, and his hustle and peskiness on the defensive end of the floor is what helped him make a living in the NBA.

Even so, all players need to have some sort of confidence in their shot and their offense, and instilling that in a player is something not all coaches are able to do, particularly at that level of competition.
