FaZe Atlanta defeated 100 Thieves in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Grand Finals of the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

FaZe came back from a 2-1 deficit to win the first prize of $600,000 and 1,000 Esports World Cup Club Points. Runner-up 100 Thieves settled for $320,000 and 600 club points.

FaZe and Thieves won their semifinals earlier in the day to advance to the Grand Finals. Atlanta defeated OpTic Gaming 3-1 and 100 Thieves defeated the Vancouver Surge 3-0.

The $1.8 million tournament began with 16 teams divided into four groups for a double-elimination tournament that included best-of-five games. The top two teams in each group advance to the single-elimination knockout round, and the playoffs adopt a best-of-five-game system until the best-of-seven finals.

Atlanta defeated the Grand Finals 250-202 in Sub Base Hardpoint, but 100 Thieves responded with two narrow wins – a 6-5 win in Invasion Search and Destroy and a 3-2 win in High Level Control.

From that point on, it was all FaZe. They defeated Hardpoint Karachi 250-109, blasted 100 Thieves 6-1 in Rio de Janeiro, and won 3-2 at Invasion Control to clinch the title.

McArthur “Cellium” Jovel of Atlanta was named tournament MVP and received $50,000.

In the semi-finals, FaZe once again showed strength. OpTic opened with a 250-92 win on Karachi hardpoint, but Atlanta went on to win 6-1 in high-level search and destroy, 3-1 in invasion control, and 250-128 on sub-base hardpoint.

In the other semifinals, 100 Thieves defeated Vancouver 250-184 on 6 Star Hardpoint, 6-3 on Highrise Search and Destroy, and 3-2 on Karachi Control.
