Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will take center stage in this election Democratic National Convention His speech will be read Wednesday night to voters, some of whom may not have known his name a month ago.
In the weeks after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, Walz quickly rose to the top of Harris' short list of vice presidential candidates with his outspoken media interviews and affable Midwestern demeanor. Many expected him to bring those communication strengths to bear during his keynote address Wednesday night.
Walz was the last speaker on a list packed with Democratic heavyweights such as former President Bill Clinton and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The agenda also includes rising stars in the party, such as Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, a contender to become Harris' running mate.
The evening will be hosted by actor and producer Mindy Kaling and will feature musical performances by John Legend and other special guests.
