OSEES frontman John Dwyer has written a “biography” of the new album, explaining that it’s a “pop record for tired times”. The single — along with its news-inspired music video — backs up the theme, tapping into the tired energy of politics and society and channeling it into a potent mix of punk and electronic beeps and boos. In the video, Dwyer serves as the anchor of a dystopian broadcast, losing the weight of the message as the world burns behind his talking head. Watch the video below.
From Dwyer’s perspective, OSEES’ new music aims to create a sense of the ordinary. “Social Media Toilet Scrapers Unite!” he writes for his poetic biography. “Let the eyes of your 24-hour news cycle squint at this smiling slaughterhouse doorman. You can finally find your place here. Welcome everyone… Suffering from political amnesia? Tired of AI-generated pop music? Then this one’s for you, our friend.” Describing the new synth direction of the band’s sound, he writes, “It’s the sound of the Osees bookends. Low-grade garage pop meets raw synth-punk suicide repulsion.” Dwyer beat the taste algorithm by closing the statement: “For fans of Teutonic synthpunk and Thee Oh Sees (who the fuck are they?)”

OSEES also shared a new live album titled live in suspension, recorded in 2012 and released under the name Thee Oh Sees. The record is available today on DSP, and can also be ordered on special edition color vinyl.To celebrate the release, the band commissioned a press of five of their classic albums: 2009’s dog medicine2013 floating coffin2015 Mutilator finally defeated2017 orcand the 2022 foul form.
