Gilbert Arenas is one of the most celebrated NBA commentators out there right now and in a few years, he could be talking about his son playing in the league.

According to ESPN, Arenas’ son Alijah is “a top-five player in his class and ‘shows more improvement’ as each recruiting window passes.”

Because of this, Alijah is now No. 11 on ESPN’s list of the top 25 players, regardless of class.

In their ranking, ESPN says that Alijah has the “mentality to score big.”

“With the ball in his hands, the 6-6 guard gets to his spots with a controlled, low handle,” they wrote.

They added, “He can elevate over defenders and utilize a very nice, quick pull-up jumper. His off-ball movement catches your attention, too.”

Alijah is currently uncommitted but if he continues to gain this sort of attention it won’t be long before he has a school to play for.

As for his father, Gilbert is definitely happy to see his son doing so well.

He had a career to be proud of in his own right, averaging 20.7 points and 5.3 assists over his 11 years in the league.

Now he is a mainstay of social media, commenting on the state of the league and giving great stories about when he played.

This is just the latest instance of a former NBA player’s child playing fantastic basketball.

Bronny James is just about to enter the league, Carmelo Anthony’s son shows promise, and more and more NBA icons have kids who are making names for themselves.

The new generation of the NBA has arrived and it bears a striking resemblance to the ones that came before.
