After a disastrous 2023 NFL season that resulted in the New York Jets failing to live up to expectations following Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury, the franchise is hoping to get back on track this season and potentially contend for a Super Bowl title.
Unfortunately for New York, the Jets had to go on the road and take on arguably one of the best all-around teams in the NFL in Week 1, the reigning NFC champion San Francisco 49ers.
Even though the Jets looked like they could keep up with the star-studded 49ers early on, San Francisco eventually took over the game and cruised to victory to get its season off in a big way following a Super Bowl loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
As for the Jets, they will hope to get an added boost in Week 2 on the road against the Tennessee Titans, with wide receiver Mike Williams expected to get more looks his way, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.
“The plan last week was to play Mike Williams 15 snaps (he got nine). I’d look for an uptick this week,” Cimini wrote on X.

Allen Lazard and Garrett Wilson got the bulk of the receptions against the 49ers, which bodes well for both players, but things might open up even more if Williams can get involved and be a consistent threat in the passing game.
It’ll be interesting to see if Williams does get more targets against the Titans and if he can be a game-changer for New York.
