The Cleveland Browns face a pivotal 2024 NFL season as they desperately try to compete in the AFC after a surprising playoff run last year.
Cleveland has the talent on paper to threaten the rest of the conference, though their hopes of competing rely largely on Deshaun Watson’s shoulders.
Watson looked rusty in his return to the field in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys and now faces another legal issue as another person came out and accused him of sexual assault.
The new lawsuit is currently under review, but in the meantime Watson has not faced any sort of punishment from the NFL.
Earlier before the Browns’ Week 2 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jay Glazer broke down Watson’s deal and how it was restructured earlier in the offseason.
However, Glazer later admitted to some inaccurate reporting via his personal X account.
“I Think i screwed up how I explained Watson’s contract this AM. There was a clause to protect him in 2022-23 even in case of suspension. I said they took out those protections when they restructured deal in Aug but that was off as they didn’t have that clause in the original deal for 2024-26 MY bad,” Glazer posted.

It’s good to hear Glazer take ownership of his reporting about Watson’s contract, though it doesn’t change much of what might happen should Watson get suspended for his legal troubles again.
If Watson does receive another suspension, Cleveland could recoup some of that guaranteed money on his deal so now it becomes a matter of waiting and seeing what happens.
