WTA roundup: Tamara Zidansek rallies in Thailand; rain washes out play in Korea

Tamara Zidansek recovered from a set and a break and saved four match points to win 4-6, 7-6 ( 3), defeated Argentinian Nadia Podoroska 7-6 (3).

The Slovenian completed the feat in three hours and 41 minutes, making it the fourth-longest match at a WTA main draw event this season, as Podoroska led 5-4, 40-0 in the third set to win Three match points, but Zidansek broke serve after winning 18 straight shots. After serving at 6-5, Podoroska failed to seize the opportunity, and Zidansek hit back the winning ball to recover the match point.

In the semifinals, Zidansek, who has struggled with injuries in the past two seasons, will face Slovakia's Rebecca Slamkova, who defeated Slovakia 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. Jana Feit of Roethea.

In the other semi-final, Germany's Laura Sigmund will face Netherlands' Arianne Hartono. Sigmund defeated Spain's Rebecca Masalova 6-3, 6-4, while Hartono defeated Japan's Mai Motama 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Korea Open

The day's matches in Seoul were canceled due to heavy rain, with the singles quarterfinals and doubles semifinals postponed to Saturday.
