Before he was the biggest name in the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal was the biggest name in college basketball.

He spent three seasons at LSU, averaging 21.6 points and 13.5 rebounds per game before becoming the number one NBA draft pick.

What drew O’Neal to attend LSU?

Was it the basketball program or the location?

Speaking to “The OGs Show”, per Legion Hoops, O’Neal said it was neither.

Instead, O’Neal revealed he went to LSU because of a girl named Madison.

O’Neal said:

“It was one girl named Madison… She was so g—–n fine… She was a senior, she was 24. I was like, ‘damn, you’re so beautiful’. And she’s like, ‘yeah, you come here. I’ll tutor you’. I was like, ‘That’s what I want to do with you’. Madison, if you’re watching this, I love you.”

If Madison saw that clip, she now knows she changed NBA history forever.

O’Neal immediately became one of the most tantalizing young basketball prospects in the world when he started at LSU.

Many teams had their eyes set on the big man.

After his three seasons at LSU, he was drafted by the Orlando Magic and averaged 23.4 points and 13.9 rebounds in his first year, winning an All-Star appearance and Rookie of the Year.

Of course, the career he had after that was incredible, with him winning four championships – three with the Los Angeles Lakers and one with the Miami Heat.

O’Neal has always been someone who openly speaks his mind so it’s not shocking to hear him reveal he chose his college based on a crush on a girl.
