Russia launched a third day of strikes on the southeastern city as it continues to try and stretch Ukraine’s air defences.

According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Services, at least one person died on Tuesday after Moscow struck the city with glide bombs, retro-fitted Soviet-era weapons. Numerous buildings and homes were significantly damaged.
Further north, Russia launched an attack on the city of Kupiansk in Kharkiv Oblast, killing one and wounding another, according to the regional governor.
In Kharkiv city, the region’s capital, at least three people were killed and 28 were injured on Tuesday in a Russian glide bomb attack, said regional governor Oleh Syniehubov.
Meanwhile, Moscow released footage purporting to show air strikes on Ukrainian troops, armoured vehicles and automobile military equipment in Russia’s border Kursk region.
Ukrainian forces launched an ambitious incursion into Kursk last month, and are still holding ground there despite Russian efforts to push them back.
The move was launched in part to ease pressure in Ukraine’s northeast by forcing Russia to divert its troops.
Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Since then, Moscow has waged a war of attrition by bombing towns and cities across the border while trying to tear holes in Ukrainian defences at various points along a 1,000-kilometre front line.
