Donald Trump Jr. Gives Sad Excuse For Why His Dad Won’t Debate Kamala Harris Again

Donald Trump Jr. came to his dad’s defense when he explained why the former president is scared of debating Vice President Kamala Harris again.

Following Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate between Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked Trump Jr. about another potential debate between his dad and Harris.

“I don’t think he can have a chance at getting a fair debate,” Trump Jr. said. “I don’t think there’s moderators out there that would do that. I think there are probably Fox moderators that are so worried about even — they’re trying to appease the left that they’d actually, maybe, even lean that way.”

Donald Trump and Harris had their first debate in September after Trump initially suggested he might back out. He later blamed ABC moderators for fact-checking him during the debate when he falsely claimed Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating pets. Trump whined that the debate was “three against one.”

Since then, he has done a series of mental gymnastics to give reasons for why he won’t debate Harris again, including saying that he doesn’t want to win a second time.

“Lyin’ Kamala just put out a request for another Debate because they lost so badly tonight — Again, it’s like the fighter who lost, gets up and says, ‘I WANT A REMATCH,’” Trump posted on Truth Social after Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate.

“I beat Biden, I then beat her, and I’m not looking to do it again, too far down the line,” the post continued. “Votes are already cast — And I’m leading BIG in the Polls. I’ll MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, she’s incapable of it!”

When pressed by Collins about why his dad won’t do another debate, Trump Jr. said it’s not a good “environment” for his father.

“Well, he offered to do the Fox debate, just so we’re clear,” he said. “My father, weeks ago, said, ‘I’ll do a Fox debate, too.’ Kamala Harris turned that down because she can only go in — like she can only do an interview with a sidekick like Tim Walz on her side — she can only do it when she knows she’s going to have that upper hand. So I don’t think in this environment you can do it.”

Trump Jr.’s comments came the same night CBS News’ “60 Minutes” announced the former president had backed out of a scheduled interview.

“After initially accepting 60 Minutes’ request for an interview with Scott Pelley, former President Trump’s campaign has decided not to participate,” according to a statement from the program. “Pelley will address this Monday evening.”

Harris, who has agreed to participate in the “60 Minutes” interview, also accepted an invitation from CNN to debate Trump on Oct. 23. But he has made the excuse that a debate now would be “too late” in the campaign because “voting has already started.”
