There was some legitimate hope that the Chicago Bears could at least compete for a playoff spot this season after drafting quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze and trading for star wideout Keenan Allen during the offseason.
But the Bears are just 2-2, and Williams, the No. 1 pick in April, has been underwhelming so far this season.
Some are wondering if they made a mistake by not going with Jayden Daniels, the QB who went to the Washington Commanders at No. 2 and has been very impressive, instead of Williams.
Former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson said on Fox Sports 1’s “Speak” that while the Bears don’t regret drafting Williams over Daniels, he said they regret not hiring Kilff Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator.

Johnson’s rationale is that Kingsbury knows what to do with a signal-caller who has the specific skills Williams has.
Kingsbury, who is now the Commanders’ offensive coordinator, was the Arizona Cardinals’ head coach for four seasons, which gave him a chance to work with QB Kyler Murray.
Murray is undersized, but he’s one of the league’s better dual-threat quarterbacks, and while at the University of Southern California, Williams showed some dual-threat ability by running for 21 touchdowns in his previous two seasons.
In four games this year, he has 79 yards on 16 rushing attempts, but he has thrown four interceptions and committed three fumbles against just three touchdown passes.
Chicago will have a great chance to get on track when they face the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars the next two weeks before they have their bye in Week 7.
