The Las Vegas Raiders find themselves at a pivotal moment in the 2024 NFL season, with trade rumors swirling around star wide receiver Davante Adams.

Initially, they seemed intent on keeping the three-time All-Pro, but recent events hint at a possible change of heart.

After a rocky start under head coach Antonio Pierce, the Raiders’ win against the Cleveland Browns has raised the stakes, bringing their decision-making into sharper focus.

NFL insider Albert Breer recently shed light on the situation, reporting that teams eyeing Adams are convinced he’s pushing for a trade to the New York Jets.

“Teams involved [in] Davante Adams’ market have become convinced the Raiders star is focused on engineering a trade to the Jets. The [Buffalo] Bills and [Pittsburgh] Steelers are among those who’ve inquired with Vegas on Adams, per sources,” Breer wrote on X.

Breer added that the Bills and Saints face some tricky salary cap issues that could complicate any potential trade.

The 31-year-old is former teammates with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr of the Saints.

“Obviously, Adams’ relationships with QBs play into his preferences,” Breer also wrote.

Amid the trade talks, Adams is set to miss his second consecutive game due to a hamstring injury.

He’ll be sidelined for the Week 5 clash against the Denver Broncos, having already sat out the Week 4 game against the Browns.

The injury, which occurred during practice, has teams interested in Adams being told he could be out for 1-2 more weeks.

Though he’s expected to miss the next game, there’s cautious optimism he might be available the following week if his recovery progresses well. Who he will be playing for then remains an open question.
