There is no doubt that Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns is one of the best NBA players around, but is he in the conversation for the greatest of all time?

Speaking on the latest episode of “The Big Podcast”, former player Lou Wiliams said Durant needs to be talked about when discussing the NBA GOAT.

“Kevin Durant is a transcendent talent, bro,” Williams said, before adding, “We’ve never seen anybody like KD.”

But Williams did admit he knows why some people don’t consider him the greatest.

Williams touched upon the controversy that still surrounds Durant’s very successful run with the Golden State Warriors.

It was with that team that Durant won his two championships but some people accuse him of ring-chasing, especially since he headed to the Warriors right after being taken down by them while he was still with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“The timing was bad when he went to Golden State,” Williams said, adding that it wouldn’t have been a problem if he elected to join them at another time in his career.

Shaquille O’Neal jumped in at this point and said Durant could totally redeem himself if he wins another chip with a different team, ideally the Suns.

However, that is easier said than done because the Suns have consistently come up short of their lofty goals during Durant’s tenure with them.

With that being said, this new season could be a productive and healthy one for Durant and Phoenix and he could possibly claim another title.

If he does, his place in the GOAT conversation will grow stronger.
