After parting ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick after 24 seasons, the New England Patriots officially decided to begin the rebuilding process and start from scratch by bringing in former player Jerod Mayo as the new head coach and selecting quarterback Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

In Week 1, the Patriots pulled off the biggest upset to start the season, as they went on the road to take on Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals and came out with an impressive win to begin Mayo’s career as a head coach in the NFL.

Unfortunately for New England, that Week 1 upset might’ve been a fluke as the Patriots have yet to win another game, and it appears that tensions are rising after losses to the Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers.

“Right now, they’re teetering on a mutiny in that locker room,” Patriots reporter Evan Lazar said, via Savage Sports.

Mayo and his coaching staff decided to take the safe route by naming veteran Jacoby Brissett the starting quarterback rather than thrusting Maye into the fire to begin his professional career.

However, with the Patriots struggling with Brissett as the starter, players might be lobbying for Mayo to give the rookie a shot to start in order to give the team a chance to turn things around, or at least show some promise for the future.
