No team in the NFL will get more attention throughout the 2023 NFL season than the new-look New York Jets after the recent acquisition of superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Unfortunately for the Jets, the New York franchise will get a lot of this attention for good reasons and bad ones, as it did on Thursday after the league suspended defensive back Brandon Echols in the first game of the upcoming season.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the league has suspended Echols for one game, but the reason for his suspension remains a mystery as it was not disclosed to the public.

Although Echols is a decent player with two interceptions and 71 tackles over the last two seasons with the team, his absence shouldn’t prove costly to the Jets, as New York should be able to get by without him for one game.

However, it is interesting that the league would announce a player’s suspension, especially a player that plays in the biggest market in the country, for a team that will get more attention than most this season without a legitimate reason.

It’s doubtful that this suspension goes without a reason moving forward, as it’s likely to be only a matter of time before the NFL announces why Echols will miss the first game for the 2023 campaign for the Jets.

As for the Jets, it’ll be interesting to see how this team is covered moving forward and if there’s more good news than bad that comes out of the Big Apple this year.
