120,000 New Tracks Are Being Uploaded to Streaming Per Day

A new report confirms that more new music is being recorded and uploaded to streaming services than at any point in history.According to Luminate (via Global Music Business), an average of 120,000 new IRSCs (or individual tracks) are uploaded to streaming platforms per day in Q1 2023.

This equates to more than 10 million tracks uploaded through audio and video platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, etc. in the first three months of 2023. An average of 120,000 tracks per day represents a 28.5% increase over the full year of 2022, with an average of 93,400 tracks uploaded per day.

Luminate, for billboard Music Charts predicts that if the trend continues, more than 43 million new tracks will be uploaded to music streaming services this year. Last year, the total number of tracks uploaded exceeded 34 million.

Music fans are also streaming more than ever before. Compared with Q1 2022, global on-demand audio streaming will increase by 23% year-on-year in Q1 2023, including a 13% increase in the US. Latin, country and world music are the fastest-growing genres this year.

It’s worth noting that a large number of tracks are actually White Noise, more and more people are generated by artificial intelligence. Some of the most notable recent AI-generated songs have been a track using Drake and The Weeknd’s fake vocals that went viral in April, followed by a Bad Bunny and Rihanna “collaboration.”
