SRINAGAR: Army Commander, General Officer of Commanding, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, visited Rajouri on Saturday and held a meeting with field commanders of Ace of Spades Division and Romeo Force to review operational preparedness.

Upendra Dwivedi, Army Commander of the Northern Command, visited the Rajouri Sector to review operational preparedness, as stated in an official army statement.

The Army further mentioned that the Commander commended the troops for maintaining the highest levels of preparedness. It is worth mentioning that the Army Commander has visited Rajouri and Poonch areas on several occasions in the past two months, especially after the militancy attack at Bhata Dhurian and the encounter at Kesari Hill.

Rajouri and Poonch districts are on high alert following these militancy-related incidents, and the army is conducting an operation called ‘Operation Trinetra’ to track and eliminate militants who are active in the Pir Panjal region.

On April 28, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Dilbagh Singh, stated that approximately 12 militants are active in this area, and they are involved in various militant incidents, including the Bhata Dhurian ambush attack. A militant module operated by a decades-old Over-Ground Worker (OGW) from Gursai has also been dismantled, and significant leads have been obtained in the case. (KNO)
