The Phoenix Suns shocked the NBA world when they parted ways with two-time Coach of the Year Monty Williams following another blowout elimination from the NBA Playoffs.

Now, they are in search of a new head coach, with many candidates sounding like good options for the Suns.

According to Shams Charania, via FanDuel TV, the team has reduced their search to five coaches: Nick Nurse, Frank Vogel, Doc Rivers, Jordi Fernandez, and Kevin Young.

Among this group, there are three NBA champions in Nurse, Vogel, and Rivers. They have already led teams to wins in the playoffs, which is exactly what the Suns need.

However, out of those three, Rivers has received the most criticism for his lack of adjustments during the playoffs.

Nurse and Vogel are well-respected around the league but Rivers, after his last stint with the Philadelphia 76ers, is not a desired candidate around the league.

Fernandez and Young are two assistant coaches without proven experience as the No. 1 guy on the bench.

Tyronn Lue was another target they had on the radar, but the young coach is expected to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers.

This mini-list of five are fully capable men that can lead this franchise to the promised land. But the front office will have the last word on this.

The Suns have something good with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, but they can’t win the championship on their own.
