Just days ago, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, a five-time Pro Bowler, was released by the Arizona Cardinals after months of speculation that they would look to trade him this offseason.

Several teams are rumored to be interested in him, and it’s no wonder why, as he still has plenty of tread left on his tires, even as he nears his 31st birthday.

One team that could be in the mix for him is his original squad, the Houston Texans, which is where he spent his first seven NFL seasons.

An analyst who covers the financial side of the league broke down how the Texans can offer Hopkins the type of contract he could say yes to.

It is thought that he wants a deal similar to the one Odell Beckham Jr. recently got from the Baltimore Ravens, which is worth up to $15 million.

Hopkins’ skills may have eroded a bit over the last few years, but he is still a difference-maker, as he put up 717 yards and three touchdowns in 2022 despite being limited to nine games, mostly due to an early-season suspension after violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.

This Texans team isn’t exactly the one from several years ago that regularly made the playoffs, as they’re at the ground level of a rebuilding project.

They have a new quarterback in No. 2 pick C.J. Stroud and a new head coach in DeMeco Ryans, and nabbing Hopkins would give them a head start in regaining respectability around the league, not to mention returning to the postseason.
