Sarah Langs is a researcher who has been associated with MLB for years now.

She is one of the most respected baseball minds out there, and she is extremely enthusiastic about numbers, stats, and facts.

Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with ALS in 2021.

It is a neurodegenerative disease that results in the progressive loss of motor neurons, the ones that control voluntary muscles.

Former New York Yankees great Lou Gehrig had it and died two years after his diagnosis, in 1941.

Langs, in addition to her baseball research, is trying to raise awareness about the disease.

She has become a leader in the ALS community and uses her platform to advocate for and promote ALS research.

At the moment, she leads the #FistBumps4ALS initiative that encourages people to raise awareness for the disease by sharing pictures of themselves and tagging others.

Even MLB teams have become involved in her project.

“Much respect to the @Mets and @Dbacks, who made donations to ALS funds in the name of @SlangsOnSports over the weekend. Kudos,” MLB insider Buster Olney tweeted.

Hopefully, more teams join the New York Mets and the Arizona Diamondbacks in donating to help fund ALS research.

The hope, as it happens with every disease, is to find a cure or at least a way to help extend life expectancy.

We sincerely hope more people help the cause and facilitate the fulfillment of one of Langs’ dreams.
