Searchlight has released the first trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ new film starring Emma Stone, titled poor thing. Watch the visually arresting clip below.
The image, based on the 1992 novel of the same name by Alasdair Gray, sees Stone and Landimos working together again after 2018 favoriteFeaturing beautiful dreamscapes and vibrant colors, the trailer shows glimpses of Stone and her co-stars Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Rami Youssef and Jerrold Carmichael. Christopher Abbott, Margaret Qualley and Katherine Hunt also star in the film.
Stone stars as Bella Baxter, who is brought back from the dead by Dafoe’s eclectic scientist, Dr. Godwin Baxter. Yearning for a life of freedom and autonomy, Baxter elopes with Duncan Wedderburn (Ruffalo), and adventures around the world ensue.this frankenstein– style storyline showing Bella fighting for justice and freedom.
Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos from a screenplay by Tony McNamara, poor thing Produced by Lanthimos, Stone, Dave McCary, Ali Herting, Ed Guiney, and Andrew Lowe. The film will be released on September 8th.
