Lina Sawazan publicly berated Marty Healy at the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday.
Although she never revealed Healy’s name, the singer referred to the 1975 singer’s recent controversy when introducing her performance of “STFU.”
“I wrote this song because I was tired of these microaggressions,” Sawayama explained, “so tonight, it went to a white guy who was watching ghetto gibberish on a podcast and making fun of Asians.
He also has my master,” Zeshan continued. “I’m done! (Sawayama is signed to British record label Dirty Hit, of which Healy is a shareholder.)
To emphasize her point, Sawayama’s performance of “STFU” incorporates elements of Korn’s “Blind” and Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff.” Watch clips of her remarks and performance below.
In February, Healy appeared in The Adam Friedland Show During the podcast, he, host Friedland and producer Nick Mullen discussed Ice Spice’s race, making racist attacks on the rapper’s appearance and mocking Chinese and Hawaiian accents. Healy also joked(?) about watching “Ghetto Gaggers” porn.
Healy addressed his comments in an interview new yorker This was posted last month. “It doesn’t really matter,” he told new yorkerJia Tolentino. “Nobody’s sitting in front of their computer at night and their boyfriend comes over and says, ‘What’s the matter, honey?’ They say, ‘That’s the Matty Healy thing.’ “That’s not going to happen.”
“If that’s the case, then you’re either being lied to, or sorry, you’re a liar. You’re either lying about your injury, or you’re a little bit insane because of your injury. It’s just that people say, ‘Oh, there’s a bad thing over there, Let me get as close to it as possible so you can see how good I am.’ I kind of hope they do that because they’re showing something very basic.”
