The Golden State Warriors are keen to bounce back after their second-round elimination in the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

After a tumultuous season that didn’t start or end in the best way, the Warriors decided to make some changes.

In the process, they shipped Jordan Poole to Washington while the Wizards sent Chris Paul to the Warriors.

This move caught everybody off guard, but Steve Kerr has broken the silence, explaining why the Warriors made this choice.

Talking with Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, the four-time NBA champion head coach stated that the team ‘needed a shift.’

“But the biggest point is that we sensed we needed a shift. Didn’t mean we needed an overhaul, but we needed a shift of some sort. I think everybody in the organization sensed that. And it feels like we’ve made a pretty significant shift without giving up our identity and our sense of who we are as a team. I think, all in all, it’s a very positive shift.”

Poole was involved in a terrible incident with Draymond Green during 2022 training camp.

After Green punched him in the face, everything changed within and around the Warriors.

They weren’t on the same page, and their inconsistency during the regular season was the biggest proof of that.

Poole was seen ignoring Draymond Green and Stephen Curry during the postseason at times.

The guard was a key player in the 2022 championship run, but that situation seemed to affect his play and the rest of the team.

Paul is set to embrace a new role on the Warriors, coming off the bench next season.

The team is still confident they can make another championship run.

The Warriors will now turn their focus to re-signing Draymond Green.
