Biden spat with reporter over Hunter Biden texts

President Joe Biden angrily denied Wednesday that he was involved in the alleged extortion of a Chinese businessman by his son Hunter Biden.

‘No!’ President Biden lashes out at reporters at press conference white house Turf was asked on July 30, 2017, when his son sent a threatening WhatsApp text message to businessman Henry Zhao, asking if he was “sitting there” or “participating in it”.

“No, I’m not, and I won’t be,” the president said as he left the White House to fly to Chicago for an event.

The White House declined to comment on the WhatsApp message in recent days and declined to answer a question about whether Hunter Biden’s claim that he was with the president when the message was sent was true. The White House has previously said that President Biden has no involvement in Hunter’s business activities.

The WhatsApp message came to light days after Hunter Biden agreed to plead guilty to two counts of misdemeanor tax crimes in federal court in Delaware.

Former IRS agent Gary Shapley told the House Ways and Means Committee last month that an IRS search warrant uncovered a WhatsApp message sent by Hunter Biden to Zhao about a proposed energy deal, according to testimony released last week.

In that message, Hunter told Zhao, “I’m sitting here with my father and we’re trying to understand why the promise wasn’t kept.”

At the time of this message, Joe Biden was a private citizen who had recently served two terms as vice president. Before that, he served for decades as a U.S. Senator from Delaware.

In the letter to Zhao, Hunter Biden wrote, “Tell the director I want to fix this immediately before things get out of hand, which now means tonight,” according to the transcript.

“And, Z, if I get a call or a text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make sure that the person sitting next to me and everyone he knows and I will always The ability to stay connected is a resentment, and you’ll regret not following my instructions.”

Hunter Biden wrote: “I’m sitting here waiting for a call with my dad.”

Hunter Biden’s attorney, Christopher Clark, responded to the revelation in a statement on Fox News last week, noting that his client was addicted when he wrote the message.

“Biasted and politically motivated selective leaks have plagued the issue for years. They are not only irresponsible, they are illegal. A close review of the documents released publicly yesterday by a very biased individual, Serious questions were raised as to whether this was as he claimed, Clark said: “It is dangerously misleading to draw any conclusions or inferences based on this document. “The DOJ investigation covered a period of confusion and addiction for my client. “

Clark added, “Any verifiable statements or actions by my client during his horrific addiction are entirely his own and have no connection to his family.”

Former IRS agent Shapley testified that the Justice Department’s criminal investigation of Hunter Biden, which began in 2018, “moved slowly,” gave him “favorable treatment,” and “did nothing to avoid apparent conflict of interest”.

While Hunter Biden has agreed to plead guilty to willfully failing to pay taxes in 2017 and 2018, Shapley testified that there is evidence she should also be criminally charged for his 2014 tax returns.

Shapley said the Justice Department would have charged someone that year if “I had dealt with a similar pattern of facts, similar tax evasion, and similar tax liability.”

The Justice Department said the decision to charge in Hunter Biden’s case was made by U.S. Attorney David Weiss of Delaware, not Attorney General Merrick Garland, who was appointed by President Biden. Weiss was appointed by then-President Donald Trump and allowed to remain in office to continue the investigation of Hunter Biden.

Weiss told the House Judiciary Committee in a June 7 letter: “During my tenure as U.S. Attorney, I have made decisions — and had to make them on this matter — without political considerations.”
