With superstars James Harden and Damian Lillard requesting their respective teams to trade them recently, the NBA was thought to be dominated by headlines about where these two veteran guards would be playing next season, but that hasn’t been the case.

Even though there are plenty of rumors floating around about both players, and justifiably so, the Los Angeles Lakers have stolen a lot of headlines this summer for the moves they’ve made to compete for a title next season and beyond.

Along with re-signing a lot of their critical role players, like Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and D’Angelo Russell, the Lakers have made some changes to Darvin Ham’s coaching staff, with former player DeMarre Carroll being the latest addition for Los Angeles, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Last season, Ham inherited a lot of Frank Vogel’s coaching staff after the team parted ways with him following a disappointing finish to the 2021-22 NBA season, which isn’t ideal, especially for a first-time head coach.

Fortunately for Ham, the team was able to make a strong finish in the second half of the season in order to get into the play-in tournament and ultimately make a deep run in the NBA playoffs, reaching the Western Conference Finals.

Despite the team’s success, a few of Vogel’s former staff have decided to join him after he accepted the job to replace Monty Williams with the Phoenix Suns.

That has left some holes to be filled on Ham’s staff, resulting in Carroll being added to the mix in Los Angeles.
