Ukrainian authorities say Russian missile hits Lviv apartment building, killing at least four

At least four people were killed and 34 wounded in a Russian missile attack on a four-story apartment building in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv overnight, according to Ukrainian authorities.

In a tweet early Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a video of the devastation, showing the top two floors of the long, curved building either missing or in ruins, and promised “strong” action. respond.

Lviv is Ukraine’s westernmost major city, just over 40 miles from the Polish border and more than 600 miles from the front lines of the conflict. Since Russia began its invasion from the east, many Ukrainians have moved there for safety.

White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said the Biden administration has no word on the release of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, who was detained in Russia.
