Producer prices in China fell more than expected, official data showed on Monday, underscoring the challenges the world’s second-largest economy faces in reviving growth momentum.
According to China’s National Bureau of Statistics, industrial producer prices fell 5.4% year-on-year in June. That was weaker than expectations in a Reuters poll for a 4.6 percent decline in May.
Annual consumer price inflation was flat in June, below expectations for a 0.2 percent rise in a Reuters poll and a 0.2 percent rise expected in May. Consumer price inflation fell 0.2% in June from May to 0.2%, below expectations for flat growth and a 0.2% drop in May.
