Nothing More Singer Faced Charges for Running Over Girlfriend with Truck

Nothing More has canceled their upcoming tour in support of Godsmack and Staind due to an alleged domestic incident with lead singer Jonny Hawkins.

According to a police report first uncovered RedditSurveillance video captured an apparent argument between Hawkins and his then-partner Kristen Gordon in December 2021. Video shows Gordon being violently ejected from Hawkins’ parked truck before being run over by one of the rear wheels, the report said.

Gordon was hospitalized with “a collapsed lung, a fractured spine and a severe road rash,” the report states. Despite the harrowing incident, the couple apparently remained together until their recent split, after which she opened up about the incident and posted photos of her injuries.

Hawkins was initially charged with “hit-and-run driving causing death or serious injury” and “vehicular negligent injury” and was released on March 11, 2022, on a $10,000 bond, according to a case report.

As the case went to court, Hawkins eventually pleaded guilty to the “negligent driving of a vehicle” charge, while the “hit and run” charge was apparently dropped. A civil money judgment appears to have been issued and paid in the case, and court records show Hawkins was sentenced to 12 months of probation in addition to paying court costs and fines and 40 hours of community service.

Now that the incident has become public knowledge, Nothing More has decided to drop their upcoming tour with Godsmack and Staind and released the following statement on social media in defense of their frontman:

“One horrible night doesn’t define a person’s life.

Jonny has taken responsibility for his actions in his personal life and is being held accountable by the law.

We know Jonny better than anyone, and he’s not a violent guy. We never witnessed or saw evidence of his violence in any of his relationships. However, in Jonny’s most recent relationship, we’ve all witnessed physical abuse of him.

We’ve been by his side for the past year and a half, and we’ve supported his efforts to right his wrongs.

—Mark, Daniel and Ben”

Hawkins also issued a lengthy statement Instagram, while sharing a recent happy photo of him and Gordon together. He also attached a copy of a “Motion to Discharge Protective Order,” which states that Gordon testified that the incident was an accident and that their “relationship has grown stronger” since that night’s incident. Hawkins’ statement read in part:

“Over the past year and a half, we have tried many times to restore our relationship and rediscover the wonderful things that brought us together all those years ago. We have had some successes, but also a lot of failures, and it is clear to me that we are Not together. Within hours of me taking the last items from our shared home, she posted a deliberately misleading photo of her at the hospital.

I take full responsibility for my actions that night in 2021 and have since then fully complied with the authorities. I don’t believe that night represented who I was, or who I’ve been trying to be since. However, given the distorted and weaponized version of events that is now being released to the world, I think it is important to share these additional facts. “
