After a disappointing end to the 2023-24 NBA season, the Philadelphia 76ers are facing quite a dilemma, with reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid acknowledging that he wouldn’t mind competing for a title with another team and superstar guard James Harden requesting to be traded before next season.

Over the past few weeks, Harden’s trade request has dominated the headlines in Philadelphia, with the former NBA MVP wanting to play for the Los Angeles Clippers, but general manager Daryl Morey wants the best deal possible and is infamously patient in these situations.

With things starting to fall apart in Philadelphia, the blame game has begun, with most fans and pundits pointing at Harden and his selfishness as the reason things didn’t work out for the 76ers.

However, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas has another take on the situation and why things aren’t working for the 76ers, as he believes Embiid is to blame, via Vlad TV.

Although Embiid is coming off winning his first MVP award and is without a doubt one of the best all-around players in the league, there’s been a trend of not living up to expectations in the NBA playoffs, which has become concerning.

It remains to be seen whether Embiid is truly a winning player in this league, as the team has yet to even reach the Eastern Conference Finals with the versatile center leading the way.

This offseason will be telling for the Philadelphia franchise as it could mark the beginning of the end of the Embiid era if Morey isn’t able to get a substantial return for Harden on the trade market.
