Jamie Foxx Breaks Silence on Medical Complication

Jamie Foxx has opened up about his admission to the hospital in April due to undisclosed “medical complications.” In a new video posted on Instagram, the actor thanked fans for their well wishes and assured them he was on his way to recovery, but gave no details on the complications.

“I want to say thank you to everyone who prayed for me and sent me messages … I can’t even begin to tell you how far I’ve come and how it’s brought me back,” Fox said. “I’ve been through things that I thought I’d never go through. I know a lot of people are waiting or wanting to hear the latest news, but honestly, I just don’t want you to see me like that. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, going to parties, telling jokes, making movies, watching TV shows. I don’t want you to see my tube coming out of me and trying to figure out if I can get through it.”

Foxx yelled that his daughter Corinne Foxx and sister Deondra Dixon “saved his life” and kept details of his condition private. “So to them, to God, to a lot of great medical people, I can leave this video to you. I can’t tell you how great it feels to have your family involved in this way. You all know they kept the seal. They didn’t reveal anything. They protected me. That’s what I want everyone to have in a moment like this.”

The actor cleared up rumors that his illness had left him blind or paralyzed, but also confirmed that his time at the hospital wasn’t the smoothest. “I went to hell and back. My recovery was full of ups and downs,” he said. “But I’m back and I’m able to work, so I want to thank the people who made me work.”

“I love everyone, I love all the love I’m getting,” Fox concluded, growing emotional. “If you see me crying every now and then from now on, it’s because it’s been tough. I’ve been sick. But now that I’m on my feet, you’re going to send me out.” Watch the full video below.
