Andy Reid Makes Clear Statement On Chiefs Player Skipping Training Camp

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a second Super Bowl title in the Andy Reid era, with the team flying under the radar for the majority of the season after trading superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.

One thing Patrick Mahomes and company proved to the football world last season is that this team can adapt to losing players like Hill and that things keep moving regardless of who is on the squad in Kansas City.

This NFL offseason, the Chiefs are in a similar situation once again, with a star player wanting to get paid with a lucrative long-term contract extension.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones is unhappy with how contract talks have been going with the Chiefs thus far and, as a result, has decided not to show up to training camp.

Reid has commented on Jones’ absence and the current status of contract talks with the four-time All-Pro via Nate Taylor of The Athletic.

With Jones being a big part of the team’s defense, Kansas City will likely try to get something done with Jones sooner rather than later, as it is not easy to replace a player of his caliber at defensive tackle.

That said, it’ll be interesting to see where contract talks go from here and if this turns into the biggest storyline during training camp.

As for the rest of the squad, the Chiefs are hoping to have enough this season to pull off the repeat, but the AFC only got better this summer, meaning it will be no easy task to get winning another title this year.
