What is Garlic Parmesan Sauce?

This delicious, creamy garlic Parmesan sauce originated as a wing sauce at an American restaurant called Buffalo Wild Wings. It’s enriched with garlic, Parmesan, heavy cream, and Italian seasoning for extra flavor. This sauce is perfect as a spread on chicken wings, as a sauce over pasta, or as a dip…the possibilities are endless.

This delicious sauce is so incredible that restaurants sell it in bottles for customers to buy and take home. I especially like this copycat recipe because not everyone has access to this sauce. But why buy it when you can make a big batch at home and enjoy it anytime? Use it as a dipping sauce for this easy chicken wings recipe, or as a pizza sauce for my quick pizza dough. Dip these breadsticks are delicious too! I tell you, this sauce tastes good on anything!

Required raw materials

The list is short, sweet, and to the point. You don’t need anything complicated to make this amazing Garlic Parmesan Sauce. In fact, you probably already have most of these ingredients in your kitchen! See the recipe card at the bottom of the post for exact measurements.

  • butter: Melted butter adds a rich, buttery flavor to the sauce.
  • garlic: Use fresh minced garlic. This is the star of this recipe.
  • Italian seasoning: I love the added flavor of Italian herbs.
  • flour: Add flour to make a batter. This helps to thicken the sauce.

  • Parmesan cheese: Another key ingredient in this sauce.
  • Kosher salt and pepper: Season with salt and pepper. I love using black pepper here!

store leftover sauce

Storing leftover Garlic Parmesan Sauce couldn’t be easier. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator, because you’ll have a delicious sauce all week long. I love it so much!

  • in the refrigerator: You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Ingredients may separate on standing, so stir quickly before use.
  • To reheat: Taking your time is the key! Use low heat and stir frequently. If it starts to separate, then slowly stir it together on the stovetop over low heat. Best not to microwave this sauce. It gets oilier and breaks apart just as easily, if not more easily.
