Jung Kook’s “Seven” Claims No. 1 Spot on Billboard Hot 100

BTS’ Jung Kook scored his first solo No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with a song that has absolutely zero connection to racial violence or drunk controversy. “Seven,” starring rapper Latto, made its official debut on Monday, July 24, topping the charts, excluding recent entries from Jason Aldean and Morgan Wallen.

With this latest honor, Jungkook joins bandmate Jimin as a member of BTS and topped the charts with a solo song. BTS previously reached No. 1 with “Dynamite,” “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat),” “Life Goes On,” “Butter,” “Permission To Dance,” and “My Universe.”

Our most recent song of the week, “Seven,” which we co-produced and co-wrote with Andrew Watt, officially kicked off Jung Kook’s solo era, but there’s no word yet on when ARMY can expect a full album from the vocalist, dancer and BTS’ youngest member.according to billboardOnly eight bands in history have had more than one solo No. 1 hit on the charts, including The Beatles and Destiny’s Child.

Without Jung Kook and Latto, Aldean’s latest single “Try That In a Small Town” might have hit No. 1. The song jumped to No. 2 this week despite (or because of) its racist overtones and links to an attack on an anti-segregationist reporter in a small Jim Crow-era Mississippi town. Meanwhile, Warren’s “Last Night” was denied the chance to break the record for consecutive weeks at No. 1.

In one of the happier corners of the internet, Jung Kook’s bandmates were also busy — Jimin received cheers from Ryan Gosling, Ken himself (and a guitar!) Barbie Movie.
