The Seattle Seahawks ended a game of chicken during the 2023 NFL Draft, taking the first receiver off the board.

After they selected Jaxon Smith-Njigba, there was an immediate run of three additional receivers drafted.

Smith-Njigba was a highly-touted prospect, and many analysts were shocked that he fell to the 20th pick.

While his spectacular collegiate play gave him a lot of national attention, Geno Smith has recently revealed that he was a big fan.

In a recent conversation with Bridget Condon of the NFL Network, Smith discussed his thoughts on Smith-Njigba pre-draft.

He allegedly texted Pete Carroll, pleading for the Seahawks to draft him, saying, “You can tell how special he is as a player.”

Smith added, “He’s really going to bring that added dimension to our team, and I’m just really happy that we got him.”

The Seahawks did better than many expected in 2022 by making the playoffs.

Smith was a long-time backup but made the most of his opportunity as a starter for this organization.

Aided by Smith-Njigba, the Seahawks’ offense should take another step forward in 2023.

Will this result in a second-consecutive playoff berth with Smith as their quarterback?

He believes they have the necessary tools to compete.

Can Smith-Njigba make an instant impact on this team, propelling them to greater heights?
