Karl Jenkins Confirms That He Is Not Meghan Markle in a Disguise

Sir Carl Jenkins – the multi-instrumentalist and composer best known for his work on Soft Machine and writing “Adiemus” – has confirmed that, contrary to popular belief, he is not Meghan Markle, nor is he Jewel Thief.

Jenkins’ clarification comes after pictures of the 79-year-old musician attending King Charles III’s coronation went viral over the weekend. He was invited to the ceremony because he composed a piece of music performed by the coronation orchestra, but his shaggy hair and bushy beard had some wondering if something else was going on.

“I don’t know much about the coronation, but I know it’s clearly a disguise,” one Twitter user said, posting a photo of Jenkins at the ceremony. “They’re 100% going to try to steal the crown jewels.”

Others think Jenkins may be Markle in disguise. Markle and her husband Prince Harry have been a contentious topic in monarchy circles since they stepped down from royal duties in 2020, and while Harry tactfully attended his father’s ceremony over the weekend, Markle did not attend at all . But when Jenkins’ mop appeared on screen, some viewers had an idea: “Meghan Markle’s disguise almost blew me away,” read one viral tweet.

In response to all this, Jenkins uploaded a Tik Tok Explain the situation. “I know people have been interested in me ever since I appeared at King Charles III’s coronation,” he said. “I was there because I actually wrote some music for the service. I’m surprised some people think I’m Meghan Markle in disguise. Someone wrote that I’m there to steal the crown, whoever I am jewelry.”

Jenkins smiles and clarifies: “I’ve always looked like this! … I’ve had this beard since I was 18.” It was very trendy back then. This is me. There’s nothing sinister or surprising about it. ” Watch the full video below.

Jenkins wasn’t the only one who turned out differently at King Charles III’s coronation — in fact, according to pythonJohn Cleese, there were a lot of people in “stupid outfits” and the whole ceremony was “like a (Monty) Python sketch. ’ Likewise, Nick Cave described the coronation as the “weirdest, quirkiest” historical event of “our time.” So, maybe the white wig and mustache disguise isn’t too out of place after all.
