There are several stunning rookies entering the NBA this season, including Houston Rockets player Amen Thompson.

The No. 4 pick in the last draft, Thompson has joined a team that is really happy to see him, and really ready to see what he’s capable of.

Following Houston’s preseason win against the Miami Heat on Friday night, Jalen Green spoke about Thompson.

“Boy crazy! A lot of people are gonna see what he’s about this year, he’s really good… he’s gonna be great,” Green said, according to a video shared by Bradeaux on Twitter.

During that game, Thompson produced 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.

It was his highest-scoring game of the preseason but not his only good one.

He has scored in the double digits for three out of his five preseason games and has fit in perfectly with the rest of the roster.

Right now, Thompson is viewed as a bench asset, a player who can help propel the team’s second unit and keep the Rockets strong for all 48 minutes of the game.

Thompson is being celebrated for his ability to score but also his instinctive passing skills and his defensive prowess.

But he has yet to play a regular season NBA game and that is when the real challenges will arrive.

The good news for Thompson is that he is part of a young, up-and-coming team.

That means that head coach Ime Udoka will nurture his talents and give him more time on the court if he continues to prove himself.

Thompson’s task is to now convert what he’s done in the preseason into something special in the regular season.
