MLB is one of the hardest, most competitive leagues in the world.
Even a team that dominates for an extended period of time like the Houston Astros can’t win every year.
The Astros have made the American League Championship Series every year since 2017, yet they have managed to win “only” two World Series over that span.
It’s definitely not easy.
On Monday night, the Astros dropped Game 7 of the ALCS against the Texas Rangers at home, Minute Maid Park, and missed the chance to become the first repeat champion since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees.

MLB has made sure that the league is competitive and everyone has a fair chance.
The Astros have been, with some difference, the most successful squad in MLB since 2017 and they haven’t been able to repeat.
Even the last “dynasty” in baseball, the 2010s San Francisco Giants, failed to make the playoffs in 2011 and 2013 despite winning it all in 2010, 2012, and 2014.
But now that the Astros are out of the race, they won’t be able to repeat as champs.
The Rangers have made the Fall Classic for the first time since 2011, and are waiting for the winner of the Philadelphia Phillies – Arizona Diamondbacks clash in the National League.
